Our Hearing Partner- December

“Our Hearing Partner”

Introducing Hearing Partners of South Florida’s December “Hearing Partner”, Ruth Levine. Ruth is a Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP). She started her hearing journey 17 years ago as our patient, with one in-the-ear hearing device and now has 2 Oticon Opn’s. She first noticed her hearing loss when she struggled to hear some of her own patients and her grandchildren. As an SLP, she understood the importance of treating hearing loss early. Her focus on her hearing health enabled her to continue to work as a per diem SLP.

Ruth actively participates in Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at Florida Atlantic University. She takes courses on Politics, film, music, and foreign affairs. She recognizes that her hearing devices allow her to hear the professors clearly. She loves to go to the Opera because “music is more enjoyable now”. Ruth has also stated “I can hear my friends when we are out at a restaurant.” Her hearing devices reduce the background noise making it easier to hear in a noisy environment. Ruth understands how hearing loss can impact one’s  health and wellbeing, “if you can’t participate in conversations, you tend to withdraw.” She has been on both sides of the struggle seeing patients with hearing loss and then living with it herself.
Ruth has known Dr. Adam since they worked together at Pinecrest Rehabilitation Hospital. She has referred many of her friends and family to Hearing Partners of South Florida. “I have faith in whatever Dr. Adam recommends.”
