Hearing and Cognition

by Dr. Michelle Looney
Have you heard your audiologist say, “you hear with your brain not just your ears”? Research, especially over the past few years, has focused on the link between cognition and hearing loss. The results indicate that people with hearing loss may develop cognitive decline earlier than peers with normal hearing. However, it has also been shown that treating hearing loss may delay cognitive decline. If you or someone you know are concerned about cognitive health, please call to schedule a cognitive screening. The screening will provide you with information regarding your executive function, memory, and visuospatial abilities and how they relate to hearing loss.
Hearing Partners of South Florida is the only practice in south Florida that currently offers the congnitive screening.
