The Ultimate Valentine’s Day Gift

by: Meredith Resnick, MA, CCC-A
Valentine’s Day is a very old tradition, thought to have originated from a Roman festival.  The Romans had a festival called Lupercalia in the middle of February-officially the start of their springtime. Nowadays, it’s the day when people show their affection for another person or people by sending cards, flowers, or chocolates with messages of love.  Wouldn’t it be the perfect gift to help improve your loved one’s communication and relationship with better hearing.  Family members are often the first to notice hearing loss in a loved one and witness their withdrawal from social situations because of hearing difficulties.
The first step to get your loved one to do something about their hearing is to give him a subtle respectful hint to have a hearing test.  Untreated hearing loss has been attributed to causing anxiety, isolation, depression, balance issues, and other health-related problems. (March 2014, JAMA O-HNS).
The great news about treating hearing loss is hearing aid technology has been able to provide great benefit and comfort to most people with hearing loss.  There is technology that is invisible, rechargeable, and worn in even the most difficult, noisy situations.  The newest technology is made for iPhone and Android devices that allow people to enjoy wireless connection to your smartphone and stream TV shows and movies (with use of a TV adapter).  This will allow you to be able to watch TV and movies together in a more enjoyable setting.
Help improve your loved one’s quality of life with the GIFT of HEARING!  Call Hearing Partners of South Florida to schedule a complimentary screening and listening demonstration with today’s newest technology!
