Hearing Protection

Something so many of us never think about. However, that is a big mistake in the very noisy world we live in. There are so many people that have encountered noise induced hearing loss because they just did not think it was important. Sadly, by the time one notices hearing loss it is to late. You cannot get those sounds you lost back. Remember hearing protection is always an important aspect hearing preservation.

If you have children, that plug into electronic devices all the time, many of those devices have the capability to put limits on how loud they can turn up the sound. When we go to concerts, we want to the music loud and booming. However, there are earplug that let you hear the sound and still allow for protections. Musicians use them all the time and they most certainly must hear the music that is being played. Riding motorcycles, you can still wear hearing protection, hear the traffic, and sounds around you. Shooting sports, it is important to wear hearing protection when doing any type of shooting sport. If you are around motorized equipment, it is important to wear protection. Being in day-to-day traffic. Soon July 4th will be upon us. You may think because it is so far away from you it will not affect you. That is just not true. Enjoy the beauty of the sparkles in the sky and protect your ears at the same time. There are countless other exposures.

As far is sound goes anything above 85 decibels start getting into the harmful range. Normal day to day speech is 60 decibels. A vacuum or hair dryer is at 80 decibels, so as you can see there are many sounds that are above that. Did you know that prolonged exposure to loud noise could cause nausea and headaches? If you have a cell phone, download one of the free Decibel apps and do a little experiment to see where your decibels are.
