World Health Day celebrates the anniversary of the founding of the World Health Organization in 1948. The purpose of this celebratory day is to increase awareness to the importance of global health.
Hearing Partners of South Florida participates in global humanitarian mission events. We are proud to offer our expertise in hearing healthcare. This past year, the mission team comprised of the best audiologists from around the country and volunteers traveled to Ecaudor, Mozambique, the Holy Land and Guatemala. The team organized ear cleaning and hygiene clinics, administered hearing tests, and fit custom ear molds and hearing aids. Many of these areas are remote and difficult to access so this was the first opportunity the community had to hearing healthcare. Many of our patients donated used aids or made monetary donations to help make our mission trips a success. Thank you for your generosity and for bringing hearing smiles to people around the world.
You can play a part in increasing awareness of global health in many ways; from having your children immunized, to following discussions on social media, to organizing events in your community and volunteering for healthcare initiatives. Good health adds life to your years, so don’t forget to book an appointment for your annual hearing examination.
The World Health Organization works in more than 150 countries with their governments and other organizations to bring the highest level of health to all people. WHO states that half of the world’s population (7.3 billion people) lack coverage for essential healthcare.
Let’s celebrate the 70th year anniversary of WHO and all the work they have done for the world. Together we bring hope through hearing and help more people realize their potential. Hearing aid donations can be dropped off in our office. Monetary donations at www.hearingthecall.org/hearing-partners.
